JANUARY 28, 2017: PROJECT UPDATES
Progress:
The Contractor (Capitol Paving of DC) continued to work along the eastbound side of Kennedy Street NW and the started work on the westbound and eastbound sides between the intersections of Illinois Ave NW and Kennedy Street NW to N. Capitol Street NW. The contractor furnished and installed three (3) double catch basin, and about 13 feet connecting drain pipes. Also, Capitol Paving furnished and installed 42 feet 8” X 12” granite straight curb and 143 square feet of Brick Gutter. The contractor laid about 382 square feet of brick sidewalk on PCC base and poured 87 cubic yard of concrete for the sidewalks. The contractor also installed four (4) wheelchair ramps. The contractor started the electrical work by installing ten (10) 48”X48”X48” electric manhole.

Project Description:
The Revitalization of Kennedy Street Project will extend from Georgia Avenue to North Capitol Street. The project falls within the Brightwood and South Manor Park neighborhoods, all within Ward 4.
Design and construction components of the Revitalization of Kennedy Street project include:
- Sidewalk and curb and gutter Improvements, consisting of
- New brick and paver sidewalks from Georgia Avenue to North Capitol
- New wheel chair ramps to meet ADA requirements
- New Granite curbs
- Upgraded Street Lighting, benches, bike lockers and trash receptacles
- Reconstruction of Signalized Intersections
- Missouri/ Kansas/ Kennedy
- North Capitol/ Kennedy
- New trees and landscaping
- New drainage and storm water structures
- DC Water Green Infrastructure Improvements to 100 Block of Kennedy Street
- New asphalt pavement on Kennedy Street
The project will take an estimated consecutive 365 days to complete.
The total value of the contract at award to Capitol Paving of DC is $10,363,485.15. The Notice to Proceed date is October 24, 2016.
The substantial completion shall be within 365 calendar days of the Notice to Proceed which will be October 23, 2017.
EBA Engineering, Inc. construction management and inspection services began September 19, 2016 under Task Order #1 (PO 549196).

The contractor furnished and installed one (1) triple catch basin, and about 28 feet connecting drain pipes. Also, Capitol Paving furnished and installed 5 feet 8” X 12” granite straight curb, 10 feet circular granite curb and 115 square feet of Brick Gutter. The contractor laid about 81 square feet of brick sidewalk on PCC base and poured 151 cubic yard of concrete for the sidewalks. The contractor also installed two (2) wheelchair ramp at Kennedy Street and 7th Street intersection.
JANUARY 15, 2017: PROJECT UPDATES
Progress:
The Contractor (Capitol Paving of DC) continued to work along the eastbound side of Kennedy Street NW and the started work on the westbound side also, between the intersections of Illinois Ave NW and Kennedy Street NW to 3rd Street and Kennedy Street. The contractor furnished and installed one (1) triple catch basin, and about 32 feet connecting drain pipes. Also, Capitol Paving furnished and installed 85.5 feet 8” X 12” granite straight curb, 48 feet circular granite curb and 302 square feet of Brick Gutter. The contractor laid about 204 square feet of brick sidewalk on PCC base, poured about 18 cubic yards for driveway entrance and poured 76 cubic yard of concrete for the sidewalks. The contractor supplied 100 cubic yards of sandy based structural soil in the preparation for planting new trees.

Progress:
The Contractor (Capitol Paving of DC) continued to work along the eastbound side of Kennedy Street NW and the started work on the westbound side also, between the intersections of Illinois Ave NW and Kennedy Street NW to 3rd Street and Kennedy Street. The contractor furnished and installed one (1) double catch basin, and about 75 feet connecting drain pipes. The Contractor also installed two (2) PCC bicycle/wheelchair ramps. Also, Capitol Paving furnished and installed 284 feet 8” X 12” granite straight curb, 32 feet circular granite curb and 155 square feet of Brick Gutter. The contractor laid about 116 square feet of brick sidewalk on PCC base and poured 12 cubic yard of concrete for the sidewalks. The contractor supplied 41 cubic yards of sandy based structural soil in the preparation for planting new trees and installed 7 tree protection fences.
